Anna L. Skowron

Anna L. Skowron was born in 1958 in Starachowice. Education – Master of Science in Horticulture and postgraduate pedagogy. In Poland she worked as a teacher. After settling in New York in 1990, she retrained as a nurse. After working in New York hospitals for 25 years, she is currently enjoying retirement. America has become a source of inspiration and exploration for her. Together with her husband, she discovered a passion for traveling here. The result is thousands of photographs, several joint exhibitions and three books written together: “Podróż z biletem szczęścia” (2014), “Z trzynastego piętra szkice nowojorskie” (2017) and “Czuwały nad nami anioły” (2022). She published her accounts of numerous journeys in the form of reportages and photo reportages in the Polish press and in Polish magazines. A lover of poetry and films, especially documentaries and travel films. She is a member of the Piłsudski Institute and PIASA.

 

“For me, photography is a tool for capturing a fleeting moment, creating a chronicle of a journey through life. It is a pictorial form of expressing my sensitivity to the surrounding reality and sharing it with others.”
